A recent survey on the Day-Timer Blog, titled “What is your Work-Style?” revealed that although the age of technology is clearly upon us, a whopping 89% of voters use a combination of paper and electronics to plan their day and keep track of their priorities. 6% use only paper and 6% use mainly electronic devices for personal planning.

Those who fall into the 89% are Hybrid Planners, using both paper and electronic planning products together to stay organized and productive.

Hybrid planners cite many reasons for using both methods of planning. For example, electronic planning tools like PDA’s, Smartphones, and Outlook® Calendars work well for managing and tracking appointments, but aren’t well suited for tracking to-dos and task lists. Paper planning tools like your Day-Timer® Planner are great for detailed note-taking during meetings, but can’t be set to provide audible alerts of upcoming appointments.

Hybrid planning is appealing to so many people because it’s easy to create a customized organization system combining the strengths of paper and electronic products.

With the wealth of paper and electronic planning tools available, there’s no limit to the number of organization methods that can be explored. As hybrid planning gains popularity, Day-Timer will continue to introduce exciting new products designed specifically for the hybrid planner.

  1. Does your iPhone app synchronize with a desktop PC task list management program? I am looking for one that will work on my desktop and synch with my iPhone. So far, no luck. If your app does not, do you have any recommendations? In advance, thank you.

    1. Jim –

Currently we do not have an iPhone® app that synchronizes with a desktop PC task list management program. You may want to check out our Print Your Own™ Pages, which work in conjunction with Microsoft Outlook® (2003, 2007). Go to http://www.daytimer.com/pyo to learn more.

We are constantly looking for ways to improve upon our product offering and your comments will be shared with our product development team.

  2. “With a wealth of options” – why aren’t you selling me one? Where is the link that takes me to this software and to these options? All of your links take me to more talk – very frustrating.

  3. Yes, Daytimer could present more options for pda gadgets and paper planning. I like to track tasks with my Centro but keep all my appointments in two page per week planner (compact). I have been buying used (from the Store) PDA holders (for my earlier Palm TX), but would appreciate a model that held the standard compact refill plus notebooks and had a clasp to operate the PDA within the unit (for the compact). What do you recommend?

  4. What is Day-Timers doing to assist with hybrid planning?
Is there software/paper to print our Outlook calendars to put in our desk top planners?
